Susan Stinsmuehlen, Ojai Studio Artist
"Nouvelle Nuptials" Exhibition
Ojai Studio Artist, Susan Stinsmuehlen-Amend, is currently showing a major
piece in the exhibition "Nouvelle Nuptials" at the San Francisco Museum of
Craft + Design. Her work, "Wedding Checklist", is composed of fourteen
pieces of overlapping clear glass onto which are depicted images suggesting
the ominous task of planning a wedding. The work is painted with kiln-fired
enamels, an ancient technique most often used in stained glass, a medium
with a tradition of narration. The show, curated by Jo Lauria, runs through
June 26, 2005. Twenty-five national and regional artists have interpreted
the theme of "the wedding" in cutting edge ways through the mediums of craft and design. The Museum is located at 550 Sutter Street, San Francisco
(telephone: 415-773-0303).
