| Since its beginnings in 1983, OSA has made it its mission to promote the arts through ArtReach. This outreach program is dedicated to the support and encouragement of the visual arts in the community through education, financial donations and service. Over the years OSA artists have partnered with schools in teaching classes and mentoring students, organizing various workshops, bus tour trips and community events. In 1993, OSA began a scholarships program that gives money annually to talented artists in the Ojai Valley. The scholarships are funded from the proceeds of our annual art auction held during the Studio Tour Reception. The members of OSA submit, jury and donate art for the auction. To date, OSA has given a total of $133,000 to the community and scholarships. All scholarship applicants must reside in the Ojai Valley and be pursuing a career in Visual Arts: painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture, art history, and related fields. Applications are generally reviewed in early spring. |
